Overview of the Central Xchange
Covering 30-hectare of land, the Central Xchange is envisioned to be a Centre of Excellence for R&D in infocomms, science, engineering and media enterprises. The entire Xchange, which will be developed in 5 phases and according to market demand, will be a catalyst for public-private partnership allowing industries and research organisations from the physical sciences and engineering industries to work together, fostering innovation, experimentation and collaboration in a vibrant R&D environment. The first phase, Fusionopolis Phase 1, a two-tower-cum-podium development with 6 basements and yielding a total of 120,000 sqm of floor space. This first integrated work-live-play-learn development in the Central Xchange, will house service apartments, a fitness club, technology showcases, a experimental theatre, media studios, and F&B and retail outlets. This development has already attracted major infocomms, media, science and engineering research and development tenants prior to the targeted completion at the end of this year. Fusionopolis Phase 2A, which will house similar clusters of users, will have four of the research institutes of Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) of the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) as its anchor tenants. With 103,600 sqm of gross floor area, the new complex targeted for completion 2010 will have business park space, dry and wet laboratories, clean-room and vibration sensitive test-bedding facilities and ground floor retail outlets.
Project Background
With the encouraging take up rate in Fusionopolis Phase 1 and Phase 2A, it is timely to launch plot CX 2-5, which is just next to Phase 2A, as Fusionopolis Phase 2B, in response to the keen interest received from various corporations to be located in Fusionopolis. This multi-tenanted facility is dedicated to house infocomms, media, science and engineering research and development companies. The business park space shall be designed for provision to be converted into dry and wet laboratories to meet the pipeline demand.
