Phasing
There are three distinct phases in the development of one-norths masterplan which will take place over the next twenty years. Biopolis, Fusionopolis and Vista Xchange are the three hubs of the first phase development. They are the dynamic core of one-north and will create the platform to the roll-out of phases two and three.

Vista Xchange is designated as a corporate and business service centre which is supported by public transportation nodes such the Buona Vista Interchange (East-West and Circle Line) and the bus interchange.

Biopolis is a state-of-the-art biomedical research campus mixed with residential, business, education and institutional uses.

Fusionopolis will be established a synergistic hub for the infocomm technology, media and sciences. Being the nexus of one-north, it will be conveniently accessible by the upcoming one-north MRT Circle Line station.

Furthermore, three designated heritage areas will serve as natural counterbalances against the urban intensity of the afore-mentioned hubs. They are the Rochester Park, the Wessex Estate and the Nepal Hill.

The developments of the three phases will integrate industry clusters and their neighbourhoods to allow them to grow organically without compromising the spatial mix of one-north. As innovation in one area fuels ideas in another, new linkages and synergies will develop.

Development Pillars
In order to achieve an innovative, inclusive and vibrant community with the economic and social resources for tomorrows knowledge workers, one-norths masterplan will be driven by four strategies:
Dynamic fine grained mixed use
The strategy aims to create a balanced combination and distribution of activities. An optimal mix of uses and programs within one-north will promote social, cultural and economic vitality that in turn encourages lively urban activities throughout the day.
Seamless connectivity
Both software (IT, social and business networks) and physical connectivity (transport and pedestrian networks) are the focus of one-north. The estate is envisioned to be fully connected with wireless and super high-speed-fibre broadband. Physical connectivity within one-north is provided with a well-connected road network and public transport nodes that integrates, not impede, human traffic.
Constant rejuvenation
This is a continuous process of rejuvenation and renewal which is important to maintain the vitality of one-norths development throughout the years. Whereas flexible zoning will allow one-north to respond to the changing market landscape, adaptive reuse and infill will allow the masterplan to incorporate local heritage into one-norths development so as to preserve local history and the Singapore culture in the evolving urban landscape.
Unique identity
one-north will be a unique and inspiring place for the creative talents to pursue their dreams. This uniqueness will be accentuated by drawing upon the intrinsic strength of the site, by exploiting its undulating terrain to create a unique urban effect, and by weaving inter-relationships between layers of built-up areas and open voids into an unprecedented environment.

In addition, the masterplan will blend multiple activities and experiences into a unique ecosystem that emphasizes the complementary roles of WORK, LIVE, PLAY and LEARN components within one-north simultaneously.
