Biopolis Phase 3 Concept and Fixed Price Tender

Background

The entire Biopolis at one-north, comprising 20ha of land is dedicated to cutting-edge biomedical research and development facilities.  Following the completion of Biopolis Phase 1 and 2, JTC is anticipating the demand for more biomedical R&D space beyond 2007. The one-north Master Plan identifies the land south of the Biopolis for future development of biomedical facilities.

The infrastructure and translational skills needed to bring about scientific discoveries into commercialisation is still growing at the moment. JTC anticipates that there will be demand for biomedical space for clinical development as well as product process development that will complete the value chain for the biomedical cluster.

Activities

Targeting mainly private research institutes and incubator research activities, Biopolis 3 is a multi-tenanted research facility which will bridge private and public sector research work by encouraging close collaboration. Biopolis 3 is intended to extend basic research activities into other segments of translational and clinical research, as well as medical technology (MedTech) research.

Biopolis 3 will provide support for A*STAR's Institute of Clinical Sciences initiatives in building a world class research program in clinical and translational medicine, bridging basic, translational and clinical research.

Leveraging on Singapore's strengths in electronics and precision engineering as well as physical sciences research capabilities, A*STAR and EDB will focus on growing the MedTech sector. In response, Biopolis 3 will also house MedTech research companies to allow them to tap onto the synergies within the Biopolis cluster.
